History of the Aldeen Golf Club The Aldeen Golf Club is the result of the
vision and generosity of Norris and Margaret Aldeen. The Aldeen family has a long history of
philanthropy in the Rockford area. The success of their endeavors in
the manufacturing industry has benefited their community in many ways.
A lifelong golfer, Norris A. Aldeen was taught how to play golf by
his mother on a public course. During a long and distinguished career
in business, Norris enjoyed many private clubs and played golf on most
of the world's greatest courses. While always maintaining a love for
public golf After a feasibility study was done by the
National Golf Foundation, it was determined that the Rockford area
could use a new, upscale public golf facility. The firm of Dick Nugent
and Associates was chosen from a group of well respected The golf course and adjoining 26 acre practice
centre were opened for play on Margaret's birthday July 26, 1991. Since
it opened, the Aldeen Golf Club has received numerous awards, honors
and has hosted many championship events... The
Aldeen Golf Club has set a new standard for upscale public golf in
northern Illinois

the Rockford Park District in 1988 with the offer of providing the
property (on which the Aldeen Golf Club now exists) and "seed" money
to help the district build its fifth golf course.
