ROCKFORD, IL – A toast to community partners investing in Aldeen Golf Club, followed by a ribbon cutting, symbolized the completion of construction for Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion, 1868 Reid Farm Road, Rockford.
Construction Begins on Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion at Aldeen Golf Club Thanks to Key Partners and Donors Investing in Rockford Park District
ROCKFORD, IL – A lot is happening at Aldeen Golf Club, 1902 Reid Farm Road, Rockford, during the off season. Recently, construction began to expand the north parking lot, and today a “first dig” took place to symbolize construction starting on the new Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion at Aldeen Golf Club driven by Giovanni’s. When completed, Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion will be roughly 9,000 square feet and hold 250 people. Indoor amenities include a full cooking kitchen and event bar, exposed rafter ceilings, large stone fireplace, huge glass windows to view the golf course to the south and west, outdoor pergola, and private brides’ room for weddings.
In June, at a Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners meeting, the Park Board approved multiple agreements to move forward with plans for a new indoor facility at Aldeen Golf Club. The Rockford Park District is utilizing a variety of funding opportunities to make this project happen, including $2.7 million in generous donations, a naming rights agreement, and a continued partnership with Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center, which operates Graystone Grill at Aldeen Golf Club. Generous partners such as Rockford Bank & Trust (naming rights partner), Rick and Lana Engen, Norris & Margaret Aldeen Foundation along with Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center contributed to the project. Construction costs include kitchen and catering equipment, site work, additional parking, actual structure, and architectural design.
“This addition will not only bring back golf events we’ve lost due to not having an indoor banquet option, but will provide a great opportunity to bring new revenue to Aldeen Golf Club through non-golf events. Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion is an example of how the District can bring in new revenue and reduce dependency on taxes. Off-season revenue is crucial to our long-term financial success as property tax revenue and golf fees will not sustain Aldeen Golf Club at the same level of service. Profit from the Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion will be reinvested into Aldeen Golf Club, a top municipal course in Illinois that is challenging yet affordable,” said Duncan Geddes, Rockford Park District Director of Golf Operations. Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion will likely be completed in summer 2018.

Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion at Aldeen Golf Club Unveiled
ROCKFORD, IL – Norris Aldeen had a dream of providing a championship-quality golf course in his hometown of Rockford, Illinois. It had to be challenging, affordable, and available to everyone. His vision for his farmland continues to inspire others to dream. At a special Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners meeting, the Park Board approved multiple agreements to move forward with plans for a new indoor facility.
“We’ve known for years that we would eventually need a banquet facility large enough to host most golf outing dinners or other special events. Not having a larger indoor option has resulted in some outings moving off site, and even out of the area. Indoor facilities that provide year-round use are a priority in the Rockford Park District, especially due to the often unpredictable Midwest weather,” said Rockford Park District Executive Director Tim Dimke.
Thanks to a 10-year naming rights partnership with Rockford Bank & Trust, the name of the new pavilion will be Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion at Aldeen Golf Club driven by Giovanni’s, 1902 Reid Farm Road, Rockford. The Rockford Park District is projecting the Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion will allow for an additional 20-plus golf events, and expect that many other non-golf events will also utilize this new facility. “We are thrilled to be a part of the next phase of further enhancing the Rockford Park District and Aldeen Golf Club as the sponsor of the Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion,” said Tom Budd, President and CEO of Rockford Bank & Trust. “As a community bank, we see this as an extension of our commitment to the Rockford community, and we look forward to people enjoying this space for years to come.”
Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion at Aldeen Golf Club construction costs are projected to be $2.5 million plus kitchen and catering equipment (valued at $500,000) which includes site work, additional parking, the actual structure, and architectural design. The Rockford Park District is utilizing a variety of funding opportunities to make this project happen, including multiple generous donations, a naming rights agreement, and a continued partnership with Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center, which operates Graystone Grill at Aldeen Golf Club.
